Karl Barth's Christ
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper discussing the theology of Karl Barth, particularly his difficulty with God's requirement that humans accept the salvation offered through Jesus. Barth worked tirelessly in demonstrating that God was not to be made in humans' image. He stumbled, however, in insisting that salvation is by grace alone AND that we need to do nothing to receive it. Certainly Barth's primary premise is correct. It is a fact of such magnitude that we are told repeatedly throughout the New Testament that salvation is through grace alone, but Jesus consistently required action of those professing belief. Barth unfortunately had unnecessary difficulty with this point. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Karl Marx’s Theory of Religion and Modern Day Islamic Turkey
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper discussing Marx’s theory of religion and Islamic modern day Turkey. Karl Marx believed that religion was the “opium of the people” and it led to the protection of the elite classes and oppression of the lower classes. In modern day Turkey, the Islamist movement was said to originate as a need to represent the poor urban population and promoted the ideals of Marx in regards to the socialist ideals and community equality. In addition, it also promoted the traditional conservative ideals of the Islamic faith. Since religion has become a part of Turkish politics, the oppression of classes and other religions has continued. Christians within Turkey find it hard to exist in the country as they are not allowed to study their own faith and are forced to learn the foundations of Islam within the educational system. Those children who refuse are humiliated by the teachers and class mates. Since 1980, many Christians have moved from Turkey into parts of Europe. Turkey which is a member of NATO and the European Council deems itself as “secular” to seem more attractive to the western countries but by all accounts, Marxist theories of religion leading to oppression seems to be a ongoing issue in modern day Turkey. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Kaufman's Proposal For Theological Method And Construal Of The Doctrine Of God
[ send me this paper ]
9 pages in length. Where does theology end and everything else begin? Or at which point does one stop talking about philosophy or psychology and make the transition into theological territory? This quandary is what Gordon D. Kaufman spends an entire book discussing in the hopes to establish an understanding of why certain subject matter is considered to be theological in nature while others are not, when there is little – if any – obvious aspects to differentiate one from another. No additional sources cited.
