Minorities In Management
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Throughout America, African-American women are the most underrepresented of all corporate managerial positions. At a mere twelve percent of the entire female work force, black women make up only seven percent of all management positions. However, that represents only one minority who is overlooked in the management world; Hispanics, Asians and women in general are routinely omitted from management promotions. When they have managed to earn higher status within their companies, most often through considerably greater effort, they are not given the same amount of respect nor regarded as impartially by their subordinates as are their white male counterparts. The writer discusses the various difficulties that plague minorities in management. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Minority Leadership in Corporate America
[ send me this paper ]
a 12 page research paper that attempts to evaluate where minority leadership in corporate America stands today. The writer points out that there are two basic slants on minority leadership in corporate America being espoused in the media today. The first point of view is that corporate America is seeking to diversify its work force at an exponential rate as it has been realized that diversity is a key element to successful globalization, and that minorities are entering management in record numbers. The second point of view, one that is predominant in African-American publications, is that twenty plus years of affirmative action have seen very little real gain in the percentages of minorities that are in the upper echelons of corporate management. Both views are well argued in the media--which is correct? Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Minority Set-Asides
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper examining the usefulness of minority set-asides in government contracts. The federal government necessarily goes to the private sector for acquisition of goods and services needed. Government contracts are seen as a lucrative way of expanding almost any business. There has been much debate over the current relevance of maintaining certain contracts only for competition by minority-owned businesses, but nearly all the participants neglect to note that the set-asides are overseen by the Small Business Administration. The contracts are also limited to small businesses, a factor that needs to be considered more than it is. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
