Walter Rodney's "How Europe Underdeveloped Africa"
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. Walter Rodney's How Europe Underdeveloped Africa seeks to illustrate the manner by which Africa's existence in today's world is wholly due to the oppressive approach imparted by European presence. The author's goals and objectives in writing the book are to bring to light the otherwise misunderstood reasons behind Africa's perpetual state of underdevelopment, clearly and blatantly pointing the accusatory finger at Puritan hegemony in a land where they did not even belong. Major highlights of the author's views include such acknowledgments as early capitalist development, imperialism and colonialism, as well as technological and military elements. Rodney argues in no uncertain terms that had it not been for the oppressive nature of European existence, Africa would have had the capabilities to become just as progressive and developed as any other global nation. Water Supply And Disease In The Developing World
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The truism attached to shipwrecked sailors afloat in miles and miles of ocean – water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink – is easily equated with the long-standing problems plaguing underdeveloped countries where their own water supply is concerned. While the sailors must grapple with life-killing salt that prevents their ability to drink from the limitless reserve all around them, those in such global communities as Africa are faced with an entirely different challenge to obtain clean, uncontaminated drinking sources. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

What Is an American Today
[ send me this paper ]
This 14 page report discusses how one would describe what an American actually is to someone in a remote African village. As Americans meet peoples of the world, they find it is difficult it is to be confronted with unexpected and difficult questions. In developed societies an American may be faced with confrontations, in such a way as to feel as though they are being personally criticized or attacked for simply being an American. However, it may be even more unnerving to answer the simple and ingenuous question of what an American is. It requires some in-depth personal awareness to even begin to answer such a question for that African villager. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
